 Welcome to Prayers for Ryan

ryannjackie.jpgOn August 6th, about 9:45 pm, Ryan Reitmeyer was involved in a serious boating accident and was sent by STAR Flight to Brackenridge Hospital for emergency brain surgery.  After spending three and a half weeks in ICU Unit 1, he was transferred to the 6th floor for a few days and then transported to St. David's Hospital and Rehabilitation Center.

We believe that Ryan, having spent much of his life on Lake Travis, had a false sense of security.  Many days meeting with friends all over the lake, he must have felt that he knew it like the back of his hand.  Yet, the evidence is that at night, traveling as he would during the day, he never saw the cabin cruiser that took Heather's life in an instant and changed his life, his family's life and the emotions of his friends forever.

Ryan's family and friends have rallied to support him in this difficult time and appreciate your thoughts and prayers.

Ryan's parents Number 1 wish and desire is to let everyone know that they never want anyone to ever go through what they are going through.

Take boating seriously. While a fun pastime and an enjoyable weekend activity, it can and does turn deadly in an instant.  To help others support our efforts to prevent another tragedy, we created "Ryan Rules" for the boating public:

Be strong enough to say,

"Ryan's Rule Number 1 - When boating, everyone must have on a life jacket."

Recognize that over confidence can kill.

"Ryan's Rule Number 2:  NEVER BE ON THE LAKE AT NIGHT"

Be brave enough to enforce these rules.

His family and friends would like everyone that ever knew Ryan, anyone and everyone that may have photos, videos and/or recordings of Ryan to get them to his parents.  If they have a video tape and want it back, just tell us.  They can email directly to doug@reitmeyer.com and/or deliver them to the office:
